Este sábado 27 y domingo 28 de julio voy a tener la oportunidad de participar en la Feria Gráfica organizada por @BarrioCollectivebk en @minimalnyc_tattoo Si están en la ciudad no se pierdan la oportunidad de escuchar buena música, apreciar el trabajo de artistas locales e internacionales, y apoyarlxs comprando sus productos. También habrá un blockparty, comida gratis y actividades para lxs asistentes; dentro de las actividades programadas realizaré junto con @adrianishungry la conferencia Mapa sonoro de la musica salsa en NYC, si eres amante de la salsa y aun no asistes a la conferencia, esta es una buena oportunidad para asistir y conocer la historia del nacimiento de la salsa en NYC.

LANZAMIENTO Y PRESENTACIÓN DEL MAGAZIN SURSYSTEM 08 EN CALI

Febrero 9: Mapa Sonoro de la Música Salsa en Nueva York. En Español.

Hora: 6PM (Duración 1 hora 30 minutos).

Teatrino del Museo la Tertulia

En esta conferencia, se explorará los orígenes de la música salsa en el sur del Bronx a través de su sonido y su conexión con el territorio, conociendo algunas de las personas que crearon el nuevo género a partir de la música latina tradicional traída a Nueva York por los inmigrantes caribeños que se establecieron en el Bronx entre 1940 y 1980. Los participantes en la conferencia recibirán el mapa, que tambien esta incluido en el magazin Sursystem 08, donde podrán leer, escuchar música, y seguir el recorrido por los lugares donde se forjó la salsa. Al final de la conferencia, los participantes tendrán una idea general de cómo surgió este ritmo y cómo la inmigración afrocaribeña agregó una nueva cultura musical a Nueva York.

La edición en español del magazin es un homenaje a todxs lxs inmigrantes afrocaribeñxs que llegaron a Nueva York en los años cuarenta y que, con su cultura y nostalgia por su tierra, crearon la música salsa, con él podrán seguir la historia del origen de la salsa en algunos barrios de Nueva York y ubicar los lugares más importantes en el mapa, además de escuchar la música que se hacía en esos sitios.

In this lecture, you will explore the origins of salsa music in the South Bronx through its sound and its connection to the territory. You will discover the people who created the new genre from the traditional Latin music brought to NYC by the Caribbean immigrants who settled in the Bronx from 1940 to 1980. The participants in the lecture would follow the map, that is included in the Sursystem Magazine 08, where they can read, listen to music, and follow the tour of the places where salsa was forged. By the end of the lecture, you will have a general idea of how Salsa music emerged and how the Afro-Caribbean immigration added a new musical culture to NYC.
